Hello Blues Family,

We are entering the most exciting time of the year for the PBPS. IT IS BLUES CHALLENGE(S) TIME!

For the first time our BC will be divided into separate Solo/Duo and Band competitions. We are doing this because The Blues Foundation Affilliates are allowed to qualify entries to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, in both divisions. We hope this (as did TBF) will "level the playing field". Solo and Duo Artists have a tough row to hoe against, say, an eight piece juggernaut.

As always the Competition Chair PBPS VP Chris Roulhac and her Committee are putting in MANY hours in getting two competitions up and running. Trustee Stan Atwell is earning a nebula of Gold Stars, as usual. Obviously President Emeritus John Amberg has many irons in the fire from publicity to double-checking to most excellent pondering. Trustee John Hill has once again donated DYNAMITE motorscooters to the Raffle. All of our dedicated Trustees are bustling filling the needs, roles and gaps. It is an AMAZING group!

We also will assemble the best Judges available. There is hope of a BIG surprize in this direction. Already some of the most respectd Musicians in the area have agreed to judge.

Scooter Raffle tickets are $5 or 5/$20 and are available at the Flatiron, Zion Bar & Grille and at many Jams and Shows from PBPS Trustees. These Scoots get 100-125 mpg and are Street Legal without a license. The MAXIMUM odds will be 500:1; WAY better than most raffle odds. Our drawing will be held at the BAND Competition At Zion Bar & Grille on October 12, 2008. ANYONE IS ELIGIBLE TO WIN. This is a Blind Drawing so we have NO restrictions except entrants must be at least 16 years of age.

Full details are in the PBPS Blues Challenge section on this website. I will give a brief overview.
