Piedmont Blues Preservation Society

Our scholarship program is named in honor of three educators that have been on the PBPS board of directors. All have been deeply involved in local college and university education, and have been long-time supporters of Blues Music.

Consistent with the PBPS mission statement that, encourage “…preservation of North Carolina Blues music; revival of interest in Blues in the local communities, especially African American communities; and the presentation of educational programs, forums and workshops on the Blues…” this Scholarship is created for the purpose of assisting college students attending any one or all of Bennett College, NC A&T State University, and Winston Salem State University (historically black colleges & Universities), located in the Piedmont, which students are studying music as ‘full-time’ students and are deserving of assistance either because of financial need, or because of the quality of their character, or the level of their accomplishments in the field of music (not necessarily blues music).
